The Hunger Games is a popular dystopian novel written by Suzanne Collins. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem, where the Capitol holds total power and control over the twelve outlying districts. Each year, a boy and a girl from each of the twelve districts are selected at random to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal televised competition in which the contestants fight to the death until only one person remains. The story follows the main character, Katniss Everdeen, as she volunteers to participate in the Games in place of her younger sister and fights for survival while also questioning the moral implications of the Games and the society that created them.
